Established decades before the Acupuncture Council and to protest against them passing off there teachings as scientific as there theories do not hold up under scientific scrutiny, and giving there members the appearance of being fully qualified, so being able to charge the general public even when they get no results, time and time again.

Many believe that it was first used in ancient China but, the Aborigines in Australia use a form of it, and it can be traced back to the Stone age man when it was first used, so the original knowledge is lost in past time.

Although science does not know why it works they know at times it does work successfully. (Right now a person may be lying on a table and someone sticking needles into him and then a surgeon can take the appendix out without any other drug painlessly). Most scientists think it has something to do with the placebo effect, but, generally there are two basic theories, one, the Chinese theory based on the idea that the body has a force field flowing through it that flows both positive and negative called the yin and yen, and when there is sickness in the body the force field goes out of balance.

If you can find the point that the field is out of balance (the acupuncture point) you can use a needle to balance the force field then the body heals itself.

The second theory is that when the needle is inserted in the acupuncture point a message is sent to the brain through the nerves to get the brain to send chemicals into the body to heal itself (i.e. the placebo effect) it does not matter if there theories are right or wrong acupuncture works.
